For almost 40 years, AHT’s core therapeutic riding work has operated Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.
As AHT grows, so do the costs of caring for our horses, maintaining our facilities, supporting our riders, and sustaining a safe, professional therapeutic environment. With annual operating costs forecast to rise by more than 30%, we are now opening selected services outside our core working hours to help generate additional income for AHT.
Outside these hours, AHT’s facilities may be available to approved riders, therapists, families, small groups and events.
All services are subject to availability, suitability, supervision requirements, and prior approval by AHT.

Private & Small Group Riding Sessions
Afternoons & Weekends
AHT’s horses and arena may be available for private or small group riding lessons outside the morning therapeutic sessions.
Private sessions are ideal for riders seeking calm, focused instruction in a safe and professional environment.
Suitable for:
Riders looking for individual attention, confidence-building, or additional riding practice.
Availability:
Afternoons and weekends, subject to horse, instructor, and arena availability.
Horse Lease for Therapists
For AHT-approved professionals
Licensed therapists may apply to use AHT horses and facilities for independent therapeutic sessions outside AHT’s core programme.
All professionals must be vetted and approved by AHT before access is granted. Approval may include review of qualifications, insurance, experience, safeguarding standards, and suitability for working with AHT horses and facilities.

Qualified therapists seeking a professional equine-assisted setting for their own clients.
Access:
By application only. Prior approval is required.
Arena Hire — Parties & Events
A unique venue in Cascais
AHT’s 20m × 40m arena may be available for children’s parties and private family events outside core working hours.
The hire includes use of the arena space, a party room, and toilet facilities. Catering is not provided, but families are welcome to bring their own food, drinks, and decorations.
Suitable for:
Children’s birthday parties, family gatherings, horse-themed celebrations, product launches, small brand events, community activities, and private events organized by approved event companies.
Please note:
All events must be approved in advance and must follow AHT’s safety rules around horses, facilities, and supervision.
